SUMMER PROGRAMS OR EXCHANGE? Short on time? Can’t get away for an entire term or academic year? Summer programs are short – just 5 weeks – but packed with experiential and classroom learning! Shanghai Summer Program participants can return to UBC in time for summer term 2 courses – a great way to get ahead in the summer Early program dates leaves time for a summer job after the program

History of Sauder in China •The Sauder School of Business began its China Programs in 1980 – large number of cooperative projects with Chinese academic and government institutions and enterprises – over fifty faculty members have taught and done research in China – each year we host visiting scholars from China at UBC – have close to 500 senior government and enterprise officials in China who have participated in Chinese executive programs at UBC •SSP offered in collaboration with Shanghai Jiao Tong University •SJTU was founded in 1896 and is one of the oldest universities of science and engineering in China •Summer program first offered in 1998

SSP OVERVIEW Who is the program for? UBC and UBCO undergraduate students Must have completed year 2 by the program start Minimum 70% average in most recent full time semester at time of application What are the Program Benefits? Learn about regional economy and business practices Learn a language Experience the culture and learn the history of China Company visits; work culture in China Networking; seek job opportunities A minimum 30 participants needed to run the program!

PROGRAM COST The program fee does not include return airfare from Vancouver/Hong Kong/Shanghai Estimate $1500 for Vancouver-Hong Kong-Shanghai-Vancouver Budget $1250 for personal expenses

GO GLOBAL AWARD  $1000 award  Automatically considered  70% on best 24 percentage-graded credits in 2014/15 required. No failed or incomplete courses  Assigned at end of term 2 prior to program start
