his booklet lists the 2016 concerts for Christmas on Temple Square. This year’s concerts include performances in the Tabernacle, the Assembly Hall, the North Visitors’ Center, the Church History Museum, the Conference Center, the lobby of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, and the lobby of the Church Office Building. In addition to these concerts, you can enjoy Tabernacle Choir broadcasts, organ recitals, guided tours, Christmas films, and a musical drama about Jesus Christ. Unless specified otherwise, all events listed in this booklet are free. For more information call 1-801-240-3323.

Savior of the World

Tabernacle Choir Broadcasts

Several holiday films are shown in the North Visitors’ Center throughout the Christmas season. In the Legacy Theater at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, you can view film segments of Meet the Mormons, which examines the diverse lives of several devout members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For a film schedule, call 801-240-8945.

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir broadcasts Music and the Spoken Word at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday in the Conference Center during the Christmas season. Guests are welcome and should be seated by 9:15 a.m. The public may also attend Tabernacle Choir rehearsals every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the Conference Center. Organ Recitals

Thirty-minute organ recitals are given in the Tabernacle on weekdays and Saturdays at 12:00 noon and on Sundays at 2:00 p.m. Guided Tours

Complimentary guided tours of Temple Square’s buildings and grounds, as well as an explanation of basic Church beliefs, are available throughout the day and evening in many languages. The North and South Visitors’ Centers are open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. every day.

Savior of the World, a musical drama based on scriptural accounts of the birth and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, is presented at the Conference Center Theater (located in the northwest corner of the Conference Center). The musical runs from November 18 through December 31, Tuesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., with Saturday matinees at 2:00 p.m. The reserved ticket price is $10 for evening performances and matinees. For ticket information call 1-801-570-0080, or visit lds.org/events. Films

Church History Museum

The Church History Museum is open weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This year the museum features two new art exhibits, A Legacy in the Making: The Paint Studies of Harry Anderson and Saints at Devil’s Gate: Landscapes Along the Mormon Trail. Together, these exhibits display nearly 100 beautiful works of art, some of Bible scenes and the life of the Savior, and others of historic places where Mormon pioneers traveled on their journey to the Salt Lake Valley.

Temple Square

M

ore than any other season of the year,

Christmas inspires glorious music. Something inside each of us resonates to the promise of joy and peace embodied in the babe of Bethlehem, the infant Savior born to be our King. Words alone cannot adequately express our wonder, awe, and gratitude. Hearts too full for speech find their truest expression in the carols, hymns, and joyous songs of Christmas. Whether you have come to Temple Square this Christmas to perform or to listen—or both—may the music you hear and the sights you see in this historic setting bring you closer to our Savior Jesus Christ, “Him whose birth the angels sing.”1
