2016 Panama City Christmas Parade Guidelines Happy holidays from our family to yours! For over seventy years, the citizens of Panama City FL have attended the annual Christmas Parade in downtown Panama City. Thousands of spectators line Harrison Avenue each year to watch the wonders unfold, and anxiously await the arrival of the Man in Red! For many of us, it is a family tradition and one of our favorite ways to celebrate the Christmas season. Entertainment is not the only reason we have hosted the parade; it is to raise money for local children in need. We strive to bring Christmas joy to as many families as possible through the annual Shopping Tour. We thank each of you for the hard work you contribute to this special event. Without the contributions of our participants and spectators as well as our faithful law enforcement officers we would not be able to continue this wonderful tradition.

As you prepare your entry, we ask you to carefully review the guidelines. By submitting a signed entry form, you are indicating that you have received, read, understand, and agree to comply with the guidelines set forth in this pamphlet. We also ask that you keep a copy of these guidelines with your entry on the day of the parade, as it contains important parade day information. To keep everyone safe, these guidelines will be strictly enforced. Please be sure your primary contacts’ information is accurate on your entry forms, important information may need to be communicated to your group prior to the parade.

Parade Day Itinerary Please inform your entire group of the organization’s name as listed on your entry form. This is extremely important! This helps traffic coordinators direct participants to the appropriate staging location. This includes parents dropping children off. Please inform all of your participants that there will be NO vehicles, other than entry vehicles, allowed in the staging area after 4pm. It is recommended that you plan to car-pool. We need every bit of staging area for the parade lineup. Non-entry vehicles will be asked to move; if the driver cannot be located, it will be towed at the owner’s expense. All entry vehicles must be in place in the staging area, in their assigned location, no later than 1pm. You may finish decorating your entry upon arrival. All entries must have their line-up number posted on both the driver and passenger side door of the entry vehicle. ALL of your participants must be in the staging area no later than 4pm. The roads will begin to close at this time in preparation for the parade. NO littering in the staging area or along the route. Instruct all drivers there will be no ‘excessive show’ in either the staging area or on the parade route. You may be ticketed! Please keep your group organized and together from the time you arrive in the staging area until the end of the parade. Remember that this is a family event (no foul language, offensive music or behavior in the staging area or during the parade) Due to time constraints, all floats that wish to be judged must be prepared by 6pm. This means all lights are on and members are in position. We will not have time to circle back.

Have Yourself A

Very Vintage Christmas 1920-1980

This year’s theme is ‘Have Yourself a Very Vintage Christmas’. Entries are not to be used solely as a political or advertisement platform. Please help us entertain the crowds by decorating your entry to this year’s theme. We ask that no plain, undecorated entries of any type be entered! Maximum Entry Height is 14 ft. We welcome the use of live animals – as long as you provide sufficient staff to clean up after the animals in the staging areas and during the parade. This will be inspected the day of the parade, and failure to comply may result in elimination from parade. If you fail to clean up after your animals during the parade, your entry will be asked to exit the parade route and may be prohibited from future events. Consider your fellow participants. If you would like to have anyone walking beside your entry, to hand out candy or to be a spotter, you must request prior permission from the Parade Committee. Please submit a description of the purpose the ‘walker’ will serve. Anyone walking with an entry will be required to dress in a manner that coordinates with their entry or this year’s theme. (For example: A parent accompanying a school’s marching band should be dressed in colors that match the band) Please adhere to what you originally put on your entry form – the number of small children, live animals, and so on. This helps us make accommodations for everyone. The PCFL Jaycees will provide the ONLY representation of Santa and Mrs. Claus in the parade. He will be escorted by PCFD at the end of the parade. NO other representations will be allowed on the parade route. The PCFL Jaycees reserves the right to reject or remove any entry from the prepared route that does not adhere to these guidelines. There will be NO refunds. Caption describing picture or graphic.
