Welcome Message Dear Colleagues, It has been 3 years since we co-organized the International Conference of Physiological Sciences 2012 together with The American Physiological Society, The Australian Physiological Society, Brazilian Society of Physiology, Canadian Physiological Society, The Physiological Society of Japan, The Physiological Society, and The Scandinavian Physiological Society. To further strengthen our interaction with physiologists of different societies, The Chinese Association for Physiological Sciences (CAPS) has made an initiative to organize another event of similar nature in 2016 with our international partners. Apart from physiologists within China, CAPS has made strenuous effort to secure the participation of hundreds of Chinese physiologists who have established laboratories in other parts of the world. In this 2016 Conference, each participating society will sponsor 1-3 symposia bearing the name of the respective society. Each of these sponsored symposia will be 2-2.5 hours in duration. Speakers of each of these symposia are from at least two societies so as to facilitate interaction. The 2016 International Conference will be held in the China National Convention Centre, Beijing, China (September 25-28, 2016).

So far, 14 societies (including American Physiological Society, Australian Physiological Society, Austrian Physiological Society, Brazilian Society of Physiology, The Chinese Physiological Society in Taipei, French Physiological Society, The Physiological Society of Japan, The Physiological Society,

Physiological Society of New Zealand, The Psychoneuroimmunology Research Society and Scandinavian Physiological Society) have agreed to host named symposia in the event and all societies have submitted the named symposia to the conference. This conference is also sponsored by International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS), The Federation of Asia and Oceania Perinatal Societies (FAOPS) and the National Natural Sciences Foundation of China (NSFC). Conference Information Venue The Conference will be held at China National Convention Center (CNCC), which is located in the northern part of the city. It is a 25-minute drive from Beijing Capital International Airport and a 20minute drive to the downtown area.

Language The official language of the Conference is English.

Meeting Facilities Projectors Multimedia LCD projectors will be available in all meeting rooms. A Preparation Room will be open in CNCC during the Conference. Electricity The electricity is supplied at 220V, 50Hz in China. Posters The poster board is 1-meter-wide by 2.4 meters high. General Information About Beijing Beijing, the capital of China, is China's political, economic and cultural center. It is unique in history, tradition and characteristics. Some 3000 years ago, a small city appeared on the present site of southwest of Beijing. From the 12th Century to 1911, it was the capital of Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. Now, it is shaping itself into a modern metropolis on the 16,800 square kilometers with a population of 13 million. You will find the city an unforgettable destination, with its ancient Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the numerous palaces telling legends of dynasties long lost in the mist of history. Moreover, the city has refreshed its complexion by the growing numbers of parks and recreational centers, the folk shows of holiday celebrations, the splendid theatrical stages, and the grand city outlook.

Transfer from the Airport to Hotels All flights arrive at Beijing Capital International Airport, which is 30 kilometers from town, and is served by major international airline companies. Airport bus shuttles connect the airport to different parts of downtown Beijing, including China National Convention Center. But the most convenient way is to take a taxi at the taxi stand; the cost is around 100 Chinese yuan. By Airport Shuttle Bus It's convenient to take an Airport Shuttle Bus to the conference site if you travel light. Please select Airport Shuttle Bus Line No. 6, which runs from Beijing Capital International Airport to Shangdi Holiday Inn (the terminal). Please get off at Aoyuncun Station (Olympic Games Village, the last but two stop) at a cost of 26 yuan bus ticket, from where it's about 10 minutes' drive by taxi to China National Convention Center (abbr. CNCC). It's recommended to take a taxi here to CNCC, costing around 13 yuan for single way ride. The earliest bus from Airport leaves at 08:30, while the last one departures at 21:30 from the Airport.

By Taxi The total cost is around 100 Chinese yuan, including the expressway fee. The total time is around 30 minutes. If encountering a heavy traffic, the cost may be higher. Also the time spent may be longer. Although there is an airport subway to town, it costs much more than the shuttle and needs two subway transfers plus 15-20 minutes’ walk. So it is not recommended.

Transportation in Beijing Bus Buses are the main means of transport in Beijing. Please prepare small bills in case of no-change bus lines. It would be very crowded in rush hours at 07:00-09:00 and 16:00-18:00. Subway The subway system in Beijing has eight lines. The fare is 2 yuan per entry with free transfer from one line to aonther. Trains run from 05:30 in the morning until 23:00 in the late evening. A ticket can be bought at the ticket office at each station or at an automatic ticketing machine. Subway stops are announced over the train's speaker system in Chinese and English. Taxi Taxis in Beijing have several colors. All of them show a taximeter inside. You can easily find them in every part of Beijing. All Taxis will charge 2 yuan per kilometer with a base of RMB10 yuan.

Weather Autumn is the best season of the year in Beijing. Only the autumn has pleasant weather with clear sky and the best air quality, which thereat is called the "golden season". Also, autumn is the best traveling time of the whole year to Beijing. The temperature fluctuates during this season, with the average being about 12ºC (54ºF), with the highest around 23ºC (74ºF) and the lowest around 7ºC (45ºF).

Insurance The registration fee does not include insurance for the participants regarding accidents, sickness or loss of personal property. It is advisable to make your own arrangements in respect of health and travel insurance before leaving your countries.

Currency Exchange In China, only RMB is used. However, exchange centers can be found at airports, most hotels and large shopping centers. The exchange rate is due to the official rate (Bank of China). When exchanging money, please keep your receipt by which you can change any remaining RMB back to foreign currency when leaving China. Visa, Master, American Express are accepted in many department stores and hotels. ATM could help you for changing RMB from your credit card.

Reconfirmation of Air Ticket Departure air ticket (both international and domestic) should be reconfirmed 72 hours in advance. Calling the airline office in Beijing could make it. But these offices do not work in weekend.
