Week 1: June 19 - 25

Resident camp is a long term overnight camping experience that is more than just recreation. Scouts learn self-discipline, goal setting and enjoy character development in our outdoor learning environment.

All $30 deposits are non-refundable fees. A refund of the entire fee paid, minus the deposit, can be applied for in writing to the Council Service Center one week prior to the session the youth member is registered to attend. After this time, refunds will be prorated based on fixed costs incurred. All refund requests must be submitted to the Moraine Trails Council Service Center by August 30, 2016. No refunds will be given after August 30, 2016.

All Troops signed up for camp are strongly encouraged to send a representative to attend the Council pre-camp meeting to get details on Scout preparations, camp arrival/ check-in procedures, scheduling and more. The meeting will be held in the Camp Bucoco Preston Center on

Moraine Trails Councils Commitment to STEM Education STEM is part of an initiative the BSA has taken on to encourage the natural curiosity of youth members and their sense of wonder about the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Camp Scholarships

The Moraine Trails Council offers a limited number of camperships for families experi-

encing hardships such as unemployment, medical crisis, or multiple youth in the program/with low-income. Most scholarships will not exceed 50% of the fee. Submission deadline is March 3, 2016. Forms are available on the web at morainetrails.org. A letter confirming campership awards will be sent on March 24, 2016 to applicants. To receive your campership, the applicant must pay the non-refundable $30 deposit by April 1st to reserve a spot.

A $30 Non-refundable deposit must be made by April 1, 2016 and full payment must be made by May 11, 2016 to qualify for the early bird fee. Scouts attending a second week of camp can attend for a $30 discount off the regular fee.

It is the mission of Camp Bucoco to instill values in young people to help them reach their full potential. Our goal is to use the summer camp environment to teach life skills, build positive character, and instill leadership skills to help our Scouts bring out their best in a fun and adventurous environment. Camp Bucoco has access to Southwestern Pennsylvania’s largest lake, Lake Arthur, just 8 minutes from the camp. In addition, Camp Bucoco boasts Western Pennsylvania’s premier Scouting nature and biology center in the Preston Environmental Center. Nature hikes end in an air conditioned nature center that has computers for research as well as merit badge studies.

LOOK UP, it’s a bird, it’s a plane…

Resident Camp is an overnight camping experience that teaches self-reliance, instills confidence and teaches valuable skills that last a lifetime. All in the great outdoors!

Agawam is under invasion by drones, and other flying objects. Cub Scouts at Camp Agawam will master their piloting and navigation skills. Cubs will have the opportunity to fly drones, RC Helicopters, and navigate RC Boats on Agawam Pond. Cub Scouts will sharpen their scouting skills while making new friendships and strengthening existing ones. Webelos Scouts will have the opportunity to take part in Webelos only Adventure Program that includes an Webelos overnight campout in shelters they construct themselves. (weather permitting)

All Packs signed up for camp are strongly encouraged to send a representative to attend the Council pre-camp meeting to get details on Scout preparations, camp arrival/check-in procedures, scheduling and more. This meeting is critical in assuring your stay is both enjoyable and safe. The meeting will be held in the Camp Agawam Dining Hall on Thursday, May 12th at 7:00pm. A pre-camp leaders meeting will be held on Monday July 25th at 7:00pm in the Dining Hall to get you up to date with all your last minute information.

Planning Your Arrival to Adventure Packs should plan to arrive as a group at Camp Agawam The Parking Lot will open at 9:30 AM Check in and med checks will be from 10-11:30 Opening Flag Ceremony will be at 11:50 am. Lunch at Noon 1:00PM-4:00. Camp Orientation and Swim Test. Nobody will be permitted to unload at their campsite till 3:00 PM The check-out will begin on Monday at 8:30 am. Everyone must depart camp by 10:00 am.

Moraine Trails Council is pleased to announce its Camp Director and Program Director for the 2016 Camping Season at Camp Bucoco and Camp Agawam. Camp Director: Bob Seman Bob Seman brings his experience from serving as Program Director at Moraine Trails Council's Day Camp at Alameda Park to Boy Scout and Cub Scout Resident Camp. He has served as Cub Scout Family Camp Chairman for the last 3 Family Camps. Bob is also Cubmaster of Cubscout Pack 58 in Middlesex Twp, Butler County. Bob has been involved in the scouting program for almost 30 years and earned the rank of Life Scout in his youth Program Director: Chris Blaze Chris Blaze brings strong leadership experience to our camps this year. Chris is an Eagle Scout and served as a Gunnery Sargent in the United States Marine Corps. Chris has 6 years of camp staff experience that he will be bringing from Custaloga Town Scout Reservation to Camp Bucoco and Camp Agawam. He will be bringing 14 years of teaching and leadership experience from the USMC. Chris also serves as Cubmaster for Pack 83 in Mercer Pa and is a lifelong member of the Boy Scouts of America bringing 25+ years of scouting experience.

Progr am Highlight s for 2016 By popular demand we will be offering the Moviemaking Merit Badge Learn skills that you will use throughout your life by signing up for Cooking, Woodworking, Metalworking, and Welding Merit Badges.

First Year Scouts are introduced to Scouting fundamentals, the patrol method, and camping as they focus on their first ranks in the First Class Adventure program area. Troops will cook in their campsite one night during the week, this will help scouts strengthen there patrols and help the leaders strengthen their stomachs. Leaders continue to have access to Wi-Fi in the Preston Environmental Center and benefit from newly boosted cell phone signals.

2016 Summit Trek Adventure July 17– July 23 Moraine Trails Council and Camp Bucoco is proud to offer the Summit Trek Experience as part of our 2016 camping program. This opportunity is available to Scouts and Venturers to enjoy the adventures available at the Summit Bechtel Reserve, the BSA’s newest national base in West Virginia and home to the 2017 Boy Scout Jamboree. This exclusive opportunity includes meals, roundtrip transportation, and the programs available in the Walter Scott Summit Center. Participants will head to The Summit Monday morning from Camp Bucoco and head back to Bucoco Friday Afternoon.
