How to Register
Office Hours, Location, and Phone Numbers
Enrollment for West Chester University summer sessions involves scheduling and payment. It can be completed by telephone, mail, or in person within the scheduling and payment deadlines given on pages 1 and 2. Students may schedule for any or all summer sessions at the same time. The scheduling process is complete only when the University receives payment. Some courses and workshops do not follow the standard session dates. These are noted in the course listings. Students who register for these courses must do so during the scheduling period for the session in which the course begins. Course registration does NOT automatically sign students up for housing. For details, see page 3.

Student Service Center
The Student Service Center is located on the ground floor of 25 University Ave. Students can pick up forms and use the five myWCU terminals located at the center. The hours for the 2015 spring semester are 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (Wednesdays, 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.).
Step-by-Step Registration Instructions
Academic Information Drop/Add
1. MyWCU web portal (WCU students only). Students may use any computer with internet access on campus or off. MyWCU is accessed from the WCU home page (www.wcupa.edu). 2. Online Application for non-WCU Students. Go to www. wcupa.edu/registrar and click on the tab for Nondegree Online Application. You will be able to submit easily and quickly your online application for summer courses. You will receive an e-mail confirmation and instructions for how to schedule your summer classes. 3. Operator-Assisted Telephone Registration. If you have questions while submitting your online application, please call 610-436-3541; choose option 7. This option is available for all students. Please have your course registration information ready when you call. The operators can assist with questions about the online application.

During the Drop/Add period of each session, a student may drop a course, thereby receiving no grade for the course, by filing a drop/add form in the Office of the Registrar. WCU students may drop by accessing their class schedule on myWCU.
Withdrawing from a Course
A grade of “W” will be entered on the academic record of any student who withdraws from a course during the following periods: First Five-Week Session........................ May 28 – June 12 Second Five-Week Session........................July 1 – July 17 Post Session....................................August 4 – August 13 After the above dates, students may not withdraw selectively from individual courses. They may, however, withdraw from the University by contacting the Office of the Registrar. The University will record a “W” for all courses in which the student is registered. A student may not receive a “W” during the last two days of classes. If the effective date of official withdrawal is during the last two days of classes, a letter grade will be assigned for all courses in which the student is registered.

Students who stop attending class and fail to drop a course officially can expect to receive a grade of “Z” which is equivalent to a grade of F.
and 2,200 students in graduate programs. Students may pursue baccalaureate and master’s degrees as well as enroll in a number of certification and other nondegree programs.
A full refund will be issued if the student withdraws either prior to or on the first day of the summer session. Refer to the “Fees and Expenses” section for the complete refund policy and procedure.
Housing
Housing on North Campus is available to summer students during the session(s) they are registered for classes. The summer residence halls are conveniently located near both Lawrence Center, which houses the dining hall, post office, and many support offices, and Sykes Student Union, which houses the bookstore, food court, and student services offices. Both online and in-person applications will be available beginning Monday, March 23, 2015. For full consideration, applications should be received by May 1 for the First Five-Week Session and June 1 for the Second FiveWeek Session. Summer residents must be on the meal plan during their stay in the residence hall. Any changes or cancellations to housing applications must be received in writing to the Office of Residence Life and Housing Services no later than three days prior to the start of the session. Rules and regulations as outlined in the current edition of the Guide to Residential Living and in effect during the regular academic year will also apply to summer.
Summer Graduation
Students who expect to graduate in August at the end of summer session should contact their major department. August graduates may participate in the May commencement exercises if they file their notice of intention to graduate online. Please reference the list of graduation dates and deadlines at http://wcupa. edu/registrar/Commencement/applications.aspx. If you have not already applied online for graduation, you must apply in person at the Office of the Registrar.
University Regulations and Policies
The same regulations for student procedure and conduct that are in effect during the academic year are also in effect during summer sessions. Academic policies can be found in the Undergraduate Catalog. The Student Code of Conduct can be found in the Ram’s Eye View student handbook online.
Access Your Grades Electronically
Grade reports will not be automatically mailed. If you need an official copy of your semester’s grades for tuition reimbursement, fill out a request form at the Office of the Registrar. You can print a copy of your grades from myWCU.
Summer School Overload Policy
The maximum student load for summer sessions is seven hours for each of the Five-Week Sessions and three hours for the Post Session. Written permission for exceptions to these loads must be obtained from the chairperson of the student’s major department. Bring this permission to the Office of the Registrar. A student should not seek permission to carry an overload if his or her cumulative grade point average is below 2.75.
Parking
Student parking spaces/lots do not require a parking permit during summer sessions. Faculty and staff parking spaces/lots require a current faculty and staff parking permit between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Summer students at West Chester University have available the same full range of services provided during the academic year. • The Twardowski Career Development Center, which provides career planning and placement services, is on the second floor of the Lawrence Center, Room 229. For more information, call 610-436-2501. • The Counseling Center, staffed by licensed psychologists, offers individual counseling for personal problem solving as well as vocational counseling and testing on a confidential basis. Students may come to the ground floor of Commonwealth Hall, or call 610-436-2301. • Financial Aid is available to summer students in the form of work-study employment, student loans, and student grants. Students may come to Room 030, 25 University Ave., or call 610-436-2627. • The Student Health Services provide first-aid and routine treatment of minor illnesses. Located on the ground floor of Commonwealth Hall, the office is open during the summer Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Summer students may take advantage of a group accident and health
General Information About the University
West Chester University’s 406-acre campus provides students with modern classrooms and laboratories, an excellent library, and comfortable residence halls. The University is within walking distance of downtown West Chester and public transportation into Philadelphia, which is approximately 35 miles east of the campus. Call Student Health Services, 610-436-2509, for information. • Campus Shuttle Services –Limited bus service is available during the first and second summer sessions. The bus will run every 20 minutes from 7:40 – 10:30 a.m. and 12:40 – 3:30 p.m. between The Village, North Campus, and HSC, on Monday – Thursday plus Friday exam days. There is no service provided during the third session. See our website at www.wcupa.edu/ShuttleBus for more information. • Campus Recreation – The Student Recreation Center, located on North Campus, provides recreational opportunities for summer students and offers use of recreational equipment. The SRC has two main courts for basketball, volleyball and badminton; a MAC (multi-activity court) which provides students the opportunity to play indoor soccer, floor hockey, volleyball, basketball, and tennis; two floors of fitness equipment; elevated walking/jogging track; two racquetball/ handball courts, and a convertible squash court; indoor cycle studio; two group fitness studios; and a climbing wall. The SRC provides a number of programs at a nominal fee, such as intramural sports and personal training. The SRC is free for all registered summer students. For those students not registered for the summer but returning in the fall, there will be a nominal charge per summer session. See the website, www. wcupa.edu/campusrecreation, or call 610-436-2133.

For up-to-date information, contact the Office of the Bursar, 610-436-2552. • All fees are subject to change without notice. • All charges for a session must be paid by deadline payment dates, or your schedule may be canceled. • If you schedule before late registration, you will receive a bill mailed to your home address. Students receive only one bill. All bills/statements will be sent electronically to students’ official WCU e-mail address. Please visit the Bursar’s website for payment options and information. If any changes are made to your schedule after the bill is sent, you must contact the Office of the Bursar for any updated charges. Or you can review your charges online at myWCU. • The deadline for returning materials with payment is printed on the bill. • There is no partial payment plan for summer sessions. The University reserves the right to cancel schedules of students who do not pay or have not made arrangements for payment by their billing due date.

General Fee
There is a mandatory general fee of $48 per credit hour depending on the student’s class year that covers the services of Sykes Student Union, the Health Center, parking improvement, and the Educational Services fee. This fee also supports the recent renovation of Sykes Student Union and construction of the Student Recreation Center.

Technology Tuition Fee
This mandatory instructional fee will be used to enhance classroom technology. Undergraduate Pennsylvania residents $15 per credit hour Undergraduate non-Pennsylvania residents $23 per credit hour Students enrolled in multiple summer sessions will be charged no more than the equivalent of the full-time semester rate ($183 for in-state students, $279 for out-of-state students).
Dishonored Check Fee
A fee of $25 is charged to accounts if a check is returned for any reason.
Late Payment Fee
Students who fail to pay or submit their semester bills by their due date will be assessed a late payment fee of $50. Nonreceipt of a bill does not relieve students of the responsibility of paying or submitting their bill by the due date. For those paying by mail, please allow sufficient time for payment to reach the University by the due date. Financial aid students who fail to confirm their attendance by the due date, even if no payment is due, will also be liable for this fee.
