2015 HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETE BASKETBALL AWARD RECIPIENTS Each year the CYO invites high school varsity basketball coaches to nominate a senior player for the CYO Basketball Athletic Award. This player must be a senior varsity player who participated in the CYO Basketball program while in grade school and must have a good academic and disciplinary record as well as strong leadership qualities. The nominee must also serve as a positive role model for the current players in the CYO program. This award was first presented to a senior male athlete in 1964 and in 1976 to the first senior female athlete. Prior to 1991 the CYO Basketball Committee would choose the winner(s) each year from all of the nominations. Now all of the nominees are honored equally.
