Of course, as is our habit, the October meeting will be at the Fair, and also will be rather abbreviated. And as always there will be a pitch in breakfast.

Address:

And the list keeps growing. Since our last meeting we have the good fortune to welcome two more members.

Name:

And less than a month later is our planned event in Fredericksburg. Denise Camba has worked very hard and put together another fine gathering for us and other Oldsmobile friends from near and far. We have almost become spoiled by the great times that we spend together and the incredible never ending list of friends we are priviledged to share them with.

NEW MEMBERS: Annual dues are prorated at $1.50 per month from the month you join until April 1st.

Once again, it is time to dust off our Magic Carpets and set off on our annual journey to the magic land called the State Fair of Texas. I’m still as excited as the first time I attended in 1959. Please come and share a great day which has become a tradition for the NTOC. And it looks very promising that this beautiful weather will continue to favor us for our outing.

NTOC Zone Show for 2015 Over 30 Years Experience

The 2015 Zone Show will be the weekend of April 17 & 18, 2015 in Granbury. It is a good idea to make your hotel reservations at the Hilton Garden Inn in Granbury early to ensure that you can stay at the host hotel. So far we are open for suggestions on Friday night. Registration will end at 10:30 Saturday morning (exceptions can be for entrants who have a problem arriving by 10:30). Please contact us if you will be arrivng late so the judges can hold a spot for you and your car can be judged.

Tine’s A&E Mike Horner 707 Shepherd, Suite 105 Garland, Texas 75042 972-546-7377 [email protected]

Saturday morning we will go over the judging rules with all judges and then begin judging as soon as registration closes. If you have never judged at one of our events and would like to judge in 2015 contact Chris Dreiling or another club officer. We will put you on a team with an experienced judge to help you learn about the judging process.

“The Giglio's say thank you to Mike for all his hard work, making sure that we made it to the national meet in Illinois!!!”

ENGRAVING DOOR PLATES DESK PLATES NAME TAGS-PLAQUES

After the judging is complete we will have another afternoon cruise through the back roads of the area led by Keith Sauls. This is always a fun event with 25–30 Oldsmobiles driving through interesting parts of the areas near Granbury. We are always open to suggestions to add something different to the event, so if you have an idea we want to hear it. Maybe something for the ladies to do on Saturday morning or early afternoon if they are not judging.

Don spent 23 years in the Air Force and he worked on many of the airplanes that we saw in Bob’s Hanger. Everything from a B-17 WW II Bomber to the SR-71 Blackbird to the VC-131 used by former President Lyndon Johnson.

your car as part of the NTOC display on October 4. We can have someone go and meet you at the gate to give you the passes for you to get in, but we have to know that you are coming. There will be approximately 40 spots for cars and we don’t have that many signed up, so come on out, enjoy the NTOC group and the State fair of Texas. This is one of our annual events where we get to display our cars, meet the people at the fair, sign up a few new members, talk about “the one that got away”, and to stroll through the exhibits, eat a Fletcher’s Corny Dog, and even take some time to remember when a walk through the Automobile Building was the greatest day for looking at the new GM, Ford, Mopar offerings. That was when cars didn’t all look the same. All of this with free entry into the Fair Grounds for your car and as many people you can fit into it. Cars on trailers are welcomed as long as you can unload them and drive into the car corral. There is reserved parking for tow-vehicles and trailers. Maybe some members who have not previously participated would like to display their car this year. Your car does not have to be a show car!! Of course it would be good to at least wash off some of the mud before you get there. The only rules are that you arrive before 9:00 am and don’t leave before 6:00 pm. You can also bring some breakfast snacks to share. That and a day with your Oldsmobile family. Is there a better offer on October 4, 2014?

November Fredericksburg Get-together for 2014 — Oct. 31- Nov. 2 Weekend Denise gave an update on the Fredericksburg event. Weekend of October 31–Nov. 2. We will arrive on Friday and plans are still good for the Rockbox. Sign up form is in this Rocket. Please send in your reservations for Rockbox NOW along with payment for your tickets and Saturday dinner reservations. Denise is required to pay for both events before November so please fill the form out and send the Oldsmobile Reunion today!! Make your checks out to Denise Camba. NTOC members at the July meeting voted that everyone would be “on their own” for Saturday lunch. Denise is still working a cruise route that may take us into a different part of the hill country. The Saturday evening meal/raffle is still on schedule as before. Sunday morning you are on your own to have breakfast and then head back home. Possible route that takes us to see a private collection of cars is in the works or if you have time you can take a drive through the LBJ Ranch. . Many of our group who attended last year were asking about the program at the Rockbox Theater. Denise has the program for that Friday evening. It will be a Country and Western Music Program. Tickets will be $25.00 plus $2.00 Tax per person. Remember to dress in clothes that match the era of your car. Look now to find clothes, hats, shoes, (Sandals if they are your thing)? You haven’t been looking? Why not? Be part of the “Best Costume” Contest. (continued on next page) Page 6

Car Cruise - October 18th I found an article in the newspaper about a hardware store in Bluff Dale, about 10-12 miles south of Granbury on Hy. 377, that has been in continuous operation by the same family since 1908! Seems like a good enough reason for a day trip, plus there is a restaurant called “Let’s Eat” that has an extended menu with great reviews. Also a cable-stayed bridge a few miles away built in 1891 spanning the Paluxy River. We can’t drive across, but we can marvel! Plenty of back roads which we could explore and enjoy the scenery. My thoughts were to do this Saturday, October 18th, which is 2 weeks after the State Fair and 2 weeks before Fredericksburg. your car as part of the NTOC display on October 4.

The 2015 Zone Show will be the weekend of April 17 & 18, 2015 in Granbury. Registration will end at 10:30 Saturday morning (exceptions can be for entrants who have a problem arriving by 10:30). Please contact us if you will be arrivng late so the judges can hold a spot for you and your car can be judged.
