Anders. Das Unternehmen Nimbus Group ist anders als viele andere Unternehmen. Und das seit nunmehr 25 Jahren. Man erkennt das AndersSein an vielen Details. Zum Beispiel an jener Kampagne, in der sich Nimbus-Mitarbeiter auf großen Werbeflächen stolz und überlebensgroß als „Originale“ für ihr Unternehmen exponierten, um zum Thema Plagiate Stellung zu beziehen. Nirgendwo aber wird das AndersSein so deutlich wie in der Firmenkantine: Jeden Morgen um 10 Uhr

treffen sich dort alle 160 Mitarbeiter zum gemeinsamen Frühstück. An irgendeinem der gedeckten Tische nimmt auch der Gründer, Inhaber und Firmenchef Dietrich F. Brennenstuhl Platz. Gefrühstückt wird vor einem programmatischen Zitat an der Kantinen-Stirnwand: „ICH SUCHE NICHT – ICH FINDE. Suchen, das ist (das) Ausgehen von alten Beständen und ein Finden Wollen von bereits Bekanntem im Neuen. Finden – das ist das völlig Neue ...“

Different. The Nimbus Group is different from most other enterprises - and has been for over 25 years. You can see it in a lot of telling details. For example in the campaign in which Nimbus employees proudly presented themselves as “originals” in larger-than-life portrayals on huge advertising spaces to take a stand on the subject of plagiarism on behalf of their company. However, nowhere is the company’s differentness more apparent than in its canteen: every morning

at 10 o’ clock all 160 employees meet to have breakfast together. Also the company’s founder, owner and CEO Dietrich F. Brennenstuhl takes a seat at any one of the tables in the room. One wall of the canteen is adorned with a quote that sums up the company philosophy: “I DO NOT SEEK – I FIND. Seeking is when you start from old things. And in the new find what is already familiar. Finding is something completely new ...”

Environmental-awareness is a further element at the core of the Nimbus Group brand. All of the company‘s activities from product development and manufacturing through to logistics and sales are concentrated at its location in Stuttgart-Feuerbach. Not only do the Nimbus vehicles run on electricity but more than 90 per cent of Nimbus‘s suppliers are situated within a 200 km radius.

Seit der Gründung 1988 hat Nimbus seinen Weg zum Neuen gefunden, indem Nimbus manches anders machte – und vieles davon richtig. Vor allen anderen hat Nimbus auf die LED-Technik für innovative Lichtlösungen gesetzt und sich damit weltweit einen Vorsprung selbst vor großen Konzernen erarbeitet. Seit 2006 hat Nimbus über 10.000 LED-Projekte realisiert und verfügt damit über einen Erfahrungsschatz wie kein anderer Mitbewerber: Das Spektrum reicht von der Ausstattung von Wohnhäusern, Arztpraxen, Schulen bis hin zu kompletten Bürogebäuden und großen Firmenzentralen wie die Hauptverwaltung von Unilever, die ADAC-Zentrale in München und die Hauptverwaltung der Welthandelsorganisation WTO in Genf.

Since it was founded in 1988, Nimbus has explored new avenues. We have done so by doing things differently – and a lot of the time we were right. The enterprise was the first to place its faith in LED technology for innovative lighting solutions, giving itself a global lead even ahead of the large corporations. Since 2006 Nimbus has realised around 10,000 LED projects and can now call upon a wealth of experience unique among its competitors: the spectrum ranges from fitting out houses, doctors’ practices, schools through to complete office buildings and large company headquarters like the Unilever headquarter, the ADAC headquarters in Munich and the head office of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva.

PURISTISCHE FORMENSPRACHE UND HIGH-TECH PURISTIC FORMAL IDIOM AND HIGH-TECH

Der Wunsch nach gestalterischem Minimalismus, nach einer klaren Formensprache und nach eindeutigen Materialien haben Nimbus von Anfang an bestimmt. Als die Halogenglühlampe Mitte der 1980er-Jahre den Sprung vom Autoscheinwerfer zum Leuchtmittel für Wohnzimmer schaffte, hatte auch Nimbus darin die Chance für eine neue Formensprache gesehen – stilprägend war damals die Cirrus 0 (1986). Doch technische Parameter wie Hitzeentwicklung und Lichtemission zwangen zu bestimmten gestalterischen Rastern, die vergleichbar machten. Dieser Gefahr wollte sich Dietrich F. Brennenstuhl entziehen und beschäftigte sich deshalb seit dem

Jahr 2000 intensiv mit der LEDTechnologie. Diese sehr kleine, sehr effiziente und nur wenig Wärme produzierende Lichtquelle bot beste Voraussetzungen für einen Paradigmenwechsel im Leuchtenbau. Nimbus begriff den Winzling als entwickelbaren Kern, mit dem sich völlig neue gestalterische Möglichkeiten boten. Konsequent hat Nimbus alte Zöpfe abgeschnitten und sich auf den Paradigmenwechsel eingelassen. Nach fünf Jahren intensiver Forschung und Entwicklung war die LED leistungsstark und zuverlässig genug. Und mit der Modul Q 36 brachte Nimbus den Archetyp der minimalistischen LEDLeuchte auf den Markt.

Right from the very beginning, Nimbus has been defined by the wish for minimalism in design, a clear formal idiom and clearly identifiable materials. When halogen bulbs made the leap from car headlights to light sources for the living room in the middle of the eighties, Nimbus spotted the opportunity for a new formal idiom – back then the cylindrical Cirrus 0 (1986) set the trend. However, technical parameters such as the build up of heat and light emission enforced certain design patterns that tended to make one luminaire much like another. However, this was a risk that Dietrich F. Brennenstuhl wanted to avoid, and so in the year 2000 he

began to focus on LED technology. This very small, very efficient light source, which only produces a minimal amount of heat, had the potential to spark a paradigm shift in luminaire production. Nimbus saw this tiny component as an unexplored core that held new opportunities for a completely new approach to design. Nimbus made a radical break with the past and embraced the paradigm shift. After five years of intensive research and development with suppliers, the LED’s performance and reliability were such that it was ready for the market. And in Modul Q 36, Nimbus launched the archetype of the minimalistic LED luminaire.

Bei Nimbus kommen ausschließlich hocheffiziente LED-Leuchtmittel der Energieeffizienzklassen A++/A+/A zum Einsatz.

Energy efficiency is one of the key issues in the development of our Nimbus LED.next products. Nimbus is at the forefront of innovation and for over ten years now the company has invested in the development of resource efficient products with pioneering LED technology. Thanks to their low energy consumption and long service life, our LED.next luminaires make a major contribution to energy-saving. Moreover, Nimbus LED.next luminaires already meet the strict requirements of the third stage of the EU Ecodesign Directive concerning the ecological design of energyusing and energy-related products, which will enter into force at the end of 2016. Nimbus only uses highly efficient LED lamps in the energy efficiency classes A++/A+/A.
