If you want to enroll in a Flexible Spending Account you must enroll to continue this plan in 2013. FSA accounts do not carry over from year to year. What if I do nothing? You will be placed into plans that most resemble those you are currently enrolled in. For example, If you are currently enrolled in the Cigna employee-only low plan, then you will be enrolled in the UHC employee-only low plan. If you have an FSA, you will not be enrolled in 2013 unless you actively enroll during Open Enrollment. Who Can Answer My Questions? Workforce Management is here to help you. You can call us at 247-1700 or email at [email protected]. United Healthcare also has a toll free number you can call with UHC related questions. The UHC number is 1-866-873-3903 and will be available during open enrollment.

October 22 Through November 9 is Benefits Open Enrollment at Tulane University What’s New in 2013: Plan Rates: The new rates for 2013 may be found with this Guide. Medical Plan Provider: The medical plan will transition to United Healthcare (UHC) effective January 1, 2013. You will receive new United Healthcare ID cards in the mail during the month of December. Medical Plan Prescription Drug Costs: The State of Louisiana has mandated that prescription mail orders will no longer be offered at a discounted rate. While this service is still available as a convenience, you will pay the same amount for a three month supply using this service as you would at your pharmacy. Health Care Flexible Spending Account Limits: Federal law now limits the 2013 Healthcare FSA maximum to $2500. Life Insurance Coverage Based on Life Events: In coordination with other benefits, beginning in 2013 life insurance coverage will now be made for life event changes and during open enrollment. Requests for additional coverage will still be subject to proof of health. Previously, changes were made at any time. Plan Effective Date Change: For new hires after December 1st, coverage for medical, dental, vision, FSA and LTD will be effective on the first of the month on or following the date of hire. This change is being made to allow time to set up the new coverage for our employees. In many cases our new employees have prior coverage through the end of the month. This will eliminate duplicate coverage and costs. Long-Term Disability Premium Calculation: The premium calculation is changing for participants in the retirement plan. This does not include the Tulane University Medical Group. Rates will be based on salary rather than retirement contributions. New calculations will be reflected beginning January 1, 2013. The net change in cost for employees will be minimal. Bi-Weekly Payroll Employees: Beginning on January 1st, benefits costs will be withheld from 24 of your 26 paychecks each year. This means you will have two pay periods (one in July and one in December) when you will not have any benefits costs withheld from your pay. The one exception to this is for those who participants in the Flexible Spending Account. These payments will be withheld from all 26 paychecks in 2013. Announcing TUExtras: We are pleased to announce TUExtras, a new discount program available to Tulane employees. TUExtras serves as your single destination for discounts on great products and services. For more information and to see what discounts are available to you, visit http:// www.beneplace.com/tulane.

CHANGE IN MEDICAL PLAN EMPLOYEE PREMIUM PORTION FROM 2012 TO 2013 The chart below demonstrates the change in monthly medical plan employee contributions from 2012 to 2013 plan year. For example: Employee #1 and Employee #2 both earn less than $35,000.00 a year and signed up for the employee-only low plan in 2012 and 2013. Both employees will pay the same amount for the employee-only low plan in 2013. There is a difference in premium compared to last year as follows: Employee #1 received the premium incentive in 2012 after completing the health assessment and biometric screening. This employee will see a $4.00 increase in premium each month in 2013. Employee #2 did not receive a premium incentive in 2012 and consequently paid a higher premium for health insurance each month. This employee will see a $5.00 decrease in premium each month in 2013. (“HA” = Health Assessment incentive in 2012)
