2013 Civic Census Overview The Civic Census is completed annually from April 1-21. Data is collected in person, door-to-door by Census Takers. In 2013, the Civic Census underwent a major shift in collection methodologies changing from collection using pen and paper to collection using mobile computing devices. The data collected by Census Takers was transmitted directly over the cellular telephone network to city databases. It is expected that the change in methodology will improve data quality by eliminating the need for post collection data entry. Data users need to be aware of this change when analyzing the data and in particular, should keep the change in mind when doing year over year comparisons. A summary of the results from the 2013 Civic Census are as follows. 1.
