It is once again the time of transfers; yet transferring a confrere from one place to another is not for my pleasure; in fact it gives me great satisfaction to see someone do a good job in the place where he is appointed. But we all know that various circumstances necessitate change of assignments. I think transfers have to be looked at more positively. Jesus found meaning in going from one place to another fulfilling his three fold ministry of teaching, preaching and healing. He told his disciples, “Let us go on to the next towns, that I may preach there also; for that is why I came.”(Mk1:38). Very often transfers work for the good of the individual and the Society – where one’s talents, abilities, good will and generosity is used in another place; but sometimes it does entail some sacrifice, where after feeling very comfortable in a particular place, one has to move to another. I must acknowledge here my dear confreres your sense of responsibility and your magnanimous attitude in accepting the transfers in favour of the Province and the Society. It is my joy to see most of you placing the needs of the Society above your personal preferences. This year 10 of our newly ordained priests will be appointed in different places for their ministry. As young priests launching into the vineyard of the Lord they will require care, support and understanding of the members who are already into the ministry. Being a good mentor to them is going to be very helpful. Finally, I like to acknowledge the dedicated service of our confreres working in Canada, USA, Cayman Island, Taiwan, Germany, Italy, South Africa, Switzerland and England. I also wish to acknowledge the efforts of members who update themselves through various studies in India and abroad, so as to cater to the needs of the Province. 32. New Ventures On the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the Pallottine presence in the Archdiocese of Goa, the Archbishop of Goa Most Rev. Filipe Nerei Ferrao has offered us a parish at Badem, Anjuna. The name of the Parish is Our Lady of Miracles, and is situated about 4 Km. from Casa Pallotti, Assagao. The Provincial Council has decided to take up this New Parish.

33. Information We are in the process of making new celebrats for the year 2012-13. Those members, who wish to give their recent photos for the same, are requested to send them either by post or by email (to [email protected]), latest by June 15, 2012.

34. Philosophy cum Graduation On March 01, 2012 an extraordinary meeting of all three Provincial Councils, the Permanent Secretariat for Formation in India and the Rectors of Pradeepa/Casa Pallotti and Prabodhana, was held at PAC, Nagpur, to evaluate and improve the present formation programme, very specially the Philosophy cum Graduation programme at Pradeepa/Casa Pallotti, Goa. At the end of the meeting, this body made its recommendations and forwarded the same to the General Council for approval. The General Council deliberated on this matter and Fr. Rector General conveyed their decisions to the three Provincial administrations in India. The decisions are as follows: a) Discontinue the Philosophy cum Graduation programme through IGNOU at Casa Pallotti and allow only the present first year IGNOU graduation students to complete their graduation through IGNOU, while they also do their two-year diploma course in Philosophy at Pradeepa, Goa. b) Considering the large number of students, the three entities in India can send their students for Philosophy cum graduation either to Casa Pallotti/Pradeepa, Goa, or to Pallotti Bhawan, Nagpur. These two houses should be made use of for the students of all three entities, and the students should not be sent to other seminaries. c) Casa Pallotti/Pradeepa will continue to be officially a “Common House of Formation” until the end of the academic year 2015, even though the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Province will assume the full responsibility of running the institute. This ad experimentum period of three years is required to examine if we have the best system in place. If the experience is found positive, entrusting Casa Pallotti/Pradeepa permanently to the Bangalore Province could be considered. Therefore, with the start of the new academic year, these decisions will be implemented.

35. ‘Golden Jubilee’ Shrine, Amaravati To mark the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the Canonization of our Holy Founder, St. Vincent Pallotti, and to spread devotion to this Apostle and Mystic, a Golden Jubilee Shrine honouring our Founder, has been constructed at St. Vincent Pallotti Parish, Amravati, in the diocese of Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. The shrine was blessed on April 25, 2012, by Most Rev. Dr. Gali Bali, the Bishop of Guntur and was inaugurated by Very Rev. Fr. Pedro Camilo Simoes,

Provincial, ABVM Province, Bangalore. Many clergy men, religious and devotees graced the occasion with their presence. We pray that the Shrine becomes a place of devotion to St. Vincent Pallotti. We congratulate and appreciate the efforts of Rev. Fr. Joji Reddy, the Parish Priest, to spread devotion to St. Vincent Pallotti.

36. Divine Mercy Home (Tailoring Centre), Peddamusthabad Divine Mercy Home, a tailoring centre for unemployed women, has been constructed at Peddamusthabad Parish. It is built in view of the empowerment of the women of the parish. It was blessed and inaugurated by Very Rev. Fr. Pedro Camilo Simoes, Provincial, ABVM Province, on April 14, 2012. On the same day Very Rev. Fr. Pedro Camilo Simoes also blessed and inaugurated the Divine Mercy Shrine while Rev. Fr. Kishore Babu Yadala, Provincial Consultor, inaugurated the Divine Mercy Stage at Peddamusthabad parish. We congratulate Rev. Fr. Prabhakar Reddy for his efforts towards empowerment of women in his parish.

37. St. Vincent Pallotti Stage, Palakol On the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the Canonization of our Founder, the newly constructed stage at Palakol was blessed and inaugurated by the Provincial, Very Rev. Fr. Pedro Camilo Simoes, on April 27, 2012 at Palakol. On the same day, Very Rev. Fr. Pedro Camilo Simoes also blessed and inaugurated the grotto at Palakol, dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows. We congratulate and appreciate the efforts of Rev. Fr. Bhaskar Rao Gangolu to bring the people closer to God, through the devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows.

38. Achievement of Our Confrere Fr. Antony Dhas Prakasam SAC successfully completed his M.A. in Christianity from Mysore University and bagged a Gold Medal. We congratulate Fr. Antony Dhas and wish him all success in his future studies.

39. Annual Retreats The Annual Retreats for the year 2012 are scheduled to be held in the month of October. 40. Condolences We deeply mourn the sad demise of Mr. Ignatius, the father of Rev. Fr. Manuel Raj. He expired on April 10, 2012. We pray for the repose of the departed soul and express our heartfelt condolences to Rev. Fr. Manuel Raj and his family members. May the good Lord be their consolation at this time of sadness!

34. Fr. Joe Kallani to begin Ashramic Life As per the request of Rev. Fr. Joe Kallani, the Provincial Council has decided to permit him to lead “ashramic” life from the year 2013. The Archbishop of Ernakulam-Angamaly has welcomed Fr. Joe Kallni on his request to begin ashramic life at the hilltop of Malayatoor for one year ad experimentum. 38. The UAC Theological Congress 2012 Called off The National Promoter of UAC Formation, Rev. Fr. Thomas Vijay informs that the symposium on “Theological Foundations and Pastoral Implication of Pallottine Charism” scheduled to be held from 14-18 May 2012 at MRC, Trivandrum has been called off due to lack of sufficient number of participants.
