may halt briefly, in which case the pop-up window “Bluetooth timeout” appears. Generally these interruptions are very brief, and the transmission resumes perfectly afterwards. However, if the breaks in reception are fairly long, or if they occur frequently, then you should reduce the distance between the transmitter and the Android device. To close the HoTT Viewer first press the Menu button and then “Stop”, as this disables the Bluetooth® wireless technology connection (22). You can now close the program. The Bluetooth® v2.1 + EDR module has a maximum range of around 5 m, and the connection is automatically dropped if the range becomes too great; if this should happen, the on-screen connection symbol turns red. If the range is reduced and a connection becomes possible again, the connection is automatically restored, and the symbol once more turns green. However, it may well take a few seconds before current telemetry values are displayed again.

5. USING THE ANDROID APP The app is controlled using the standard Android procedure. Menus are called up using the Menu button while the Return button takes you back. 5.1 Downloading voice files - simulation file The speech output implemented in this app makes all voice messages available even when a paired headset is not present. An active Internet connection is necessary for the download procedure. • Press the menu button and then “Settings”. • Scroll to “Download Voice Files”: the message “No voice file loaded” appears (Fig. 23). Press the Download button: you will see a pop-up window, alerting you to the need for an Internet connection, which may involve additional cost. Select “Yes”. The software automatically downloads the language which is set in the Android device under “Language”. • The download starts, and the orange status bar shows the progress of the process.

Read Point 6.6 for information on using this file. 5.2 Info Here you will find a brief summary description of all the functions of the HoTT Viewer. It is ideal if you forget the correct procedure when operating the system, and these instructions are not to hand. 5.3 Settings In the Settings menu you can set up the Viewer to suit your preferences, e.g. font sizes, colours or warning thresholds. and then „Preferences“. Press the Menubutton Basic method of operation: • Where menu points include an arrow symbol at the right-hand edge, a Select field can be opened, and the settings are accepted directly when you press the corresponding value; the Select field then closes. However, if you do not wish to make any changes, press “Cancel”. • Menu points with a bar must first be activated by ticking that point. Note: the value can be adjusted by pressing the + or - buttons, or by sliding the bar directly, but only while the point is not ticked. Once ticked, the value is blocked; this is designed to avoid accidental adjustment.

09

33002.5 Bluetooth® v2.1 + EDR Modul - Graupner HoTT 2.4

If a particular entry is not ticked, then that setting - e.g. a warning threshold - is not active, and no spoken warning will be generated.

The Settings menu is divided up into six blocks, titled as follows: • “Display settings” - where you can adjust the screen display of the HoTT Viewer to suit your preference, e.g. colour scheme, type size and screen orientation. • “Stopwatches” - where you can program the total time counter, the stopwatch and the run timer. • “Variometer” - here you can program the message repeat time for the Vario messages. • “Alarm Limits” - where the sensor warning thresholds can be adjusted in a similar manner to the “Set Warning” function in the SETTING AND DATAVIEW menu of the Smart-Box. • “Cycle Time Announcement” - here you can set the repeat time of selected spoken messages. • “Internal Logging Level Preferences” - you must not alter this. Default setting “error”. Context menu: A long press on the data display brings up this menu, where you can switch activated variometer and cyclic messages on and off. 5.4 Configuration In the Configuration menu you can determine the telemetry data which are to be displayed in the HoTT Viewer. You can store multiple configurations, e.g. for several models which are equipped with different telemetry sensors. Press the menu button and then „Configuration“. • The pre-set standard configuration is “GPS”: the data displayed in the HoTT Viewer are indicated by the buttons marked red - in this case the data from the receiver and the GPS module. Pressing the buttons adds them to or removes them from the configuration (grey buttons). • If you wish to create your own configuration, press the Return button to leave the Configuration menu. • Press the menu button and then „Manage Configs“. Now press the menu button again, and the “New Configuration” button appears (26). • At this point you can assign a name and select the buttons for the telemetry data which you wish to have displayed in this configuration (27). Note: the sequence in which you press the buttons corresponds to the subsequent arrangement of the data on the screen - starting from the top. • Press the Return button to leave the menu. • To select the configuration, press the menu button followed by “Manage Configs”. The screen shows a list of your configurations, from which you can select the one you wish to use. • If you want to erase a configuration, give a long press on the name, then select “Delete configuration”. 5.5 Model search - Map View If you have a model fitted with the GPS module, Order No. 33600, then the Model Search function will help you locate it in difficult terrain after an out-landing. The map view shows the position of the model “live”, with the help of Google Maps. These functions are only possible if your Android device is also equipped with a GPS module. Before you start a model search / map view you must ensure that your Android GPS module is activated. Press the menu button and then „Model search/Map View“. • If a Bluetooth® wireless technology connection is present, the “Map View” menu is active (caution: requires Internet connection!). If an Internet connection is not possible, you will see a grey background instead of the map. • The model’s movement can now be followed live with the help of Google Maps: the aircraft symbol indicates the position of your model, the red dot the location of your Android device (28). • If you are forced to carry out an “out-landing”, you can very simply locate your model again using “Model Search”. It makes no difference whether the model is switched on or not, as the HoTT Viewer remembers the last position of the GPS module. • Disable the Bluetooth® wireless technology connection - either by switching off or removing the transmitter - and press the Return button * to leave Map View. 33002.5 Bluetooth® v2.1 + EDR Modul - Graupner HoTT 2.4
