Welcome to DME-FET-IIUI The foundation of the Islamic University, Islamabad was laid on the first day of the fifteenth century Hijrah i.e. Muharram 1, 1401 (November 11, 1980). This landmark of the beginning of the new Century symbolizes the aspirations and hopes of the Muslim Ummah for an Islamic renaissance. The university was created to produce scholars and practitioners who are imbued with Islamic ideology, whose character and personality conforms to the teachings of Islam, and who are capable to cater to the economic, social, political, technological and intellectual needs of the Muslim Ummah. Presently 30,000 students are enrolled in the university including 2200 foreigner students in different disciplines. University has two campuses. New Campus is spread over 704 acres of land in H-10 Sector. The Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) was established in year 2007 with Department of Electronics Engineering as its first constituent department. The Department of Mechanical Engineering was approved by the Board of Governors and IIUI Academic Council in 2009. This is the second constituent department after the Department of Electronics Engineering under FET at IIUI. Initially MSME program was started in February 2010. With an approval from Pakistan Engineering Council, BSME program is started w. e. f. Fall Semester in September 2010. The course curriculum is in line with the requirements of Higher Education Commission and Pakistan Engineering Council. The department is able to produce the professional engineers those will fulfil the industrial needs of the country. The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the International Islamic University Islamabad intends to provide a firm foundation in Engineering. The BSME students are taught design methodology applied to the disciplines of mechanical engineering in the areas of mechanical design, fluid, thermal and manufacturing systems etc. The FET offers contemporary and essential tools needed in the breadth and depth of engineering disciplines. The curriculum incorporates analytical tools, creative thought and communication skills as offered through courses in the engineering departments. The engineering departments transfer latest know-how to the students to work effectively plus use their expertise as well as leadership, management, planning and organization skills in the job/project. They are trained in the establishment of business and entrepreneurial in the fields of mechanical engineering. 2
