day 3 - Xi’an, Wild Goose Pagoda, b+L Provincial Museum, Ancient City Wall Today you begin with a visit to the Wild Goose Pagoda. The temple was originally used by a large team of scholars to translate the Buddhism Scriptures into Chinese and subsequently became a holy place for pilgrims. You will then continue on to the Provincial Museum, which documents China’s archaeological finds dating as far back as the Neolithic Age (20,000 years ago). Your next visit will be to the Ancient City Wall, which was built in 194 BC and is the oldest and best preserved ancient city wall in all of China. In the evening, you may choose to join the optional evening entertainment at the – Tang Dynasty Dance Performance

day 1-2 - Xi’an Arrival i/f meals Upon arrival in Xi’an you will be met by your tour manager and transferred to your hotel. You will have the evening to relax and prepare for your full day tour tomorrow.

day 4 - Xi’an, Terracotta Warriors, Moslem Street b+L Today will be spent exploring the ancient wonders of Xi’an. For a period of more than 1,000 years, Xi’an served as China’s capital city and remains home to a great number of precious relics and historical sites. Your tour today will include a visit to the Terracotta Warriors and the lively Moslem Street. The Terracotta Warriors Site is considered the eighth wonder of the world and was discovered by accident in 1974. You will see the army of over 7,000 soldiers, archers, horses and chariots that has guarded Emperor Qin’s tomb since 210BC. Each figure is unique and the painstaking repair and evacuation continues to this day. After lunch, you will walk through the famous Moslem Street, where many souvenirs and delicious local snacks can be sampled.

day 5 - Xi’an, Beijing Today you will board a high speed train to Beijing. Upon arrival at the train station you will be met by your tour guide and transferred toy your hotel. met by your tour manager and be transferred to your hotel. day 6 - Beijing, the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square b+L Begin your day with your daily hotel buffet breakfast, featuring a large selection of Asian and Western cuisines. You will then set out with your tour guide to discover Beijing’s imperial treasures. Stand in Tiananmen Square, one of the largest and grandest public plazas in the world. Enter the imposing walls of the Forbidden City, once the exclusive domain of the Ming Dynasty, for an extensive tour through this vast complex. Return to your hotel in the evening, relax and refresh or enjoy an optional evening performance at the Legend of Kung Fu Show.

day 7 - Beijing, the Great Wall, b+L+D 2008 Olympic Games Sites Today, travel into the rugged mountain landscapes north of the city to the magnificent Great Wall of China. Once on top of this ancient defensive structure, you’ll find that some sections may be quite steep, but the views are magnificent and the experience is truly unforgettable. Learn about Jade, China’s most precious and celebrated stone, and its manufacturing process at the largest Jade factory in Beijing. In the afternoon, you will tour the exterior of the Beijing National Stadium – the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube. Afterwards you will head back to the city to enjoy an oriental foot massage. In the evening, enjoy a meal of Peking Roast Duck at one of Beijing’s most prestigious restaurants, recognised for this speciality. day 8 - Beijing, Temple of Heaven, b+L Hutong Rickshaw Tour, Summer Palace In the morning you may practice Tai Chi in the Temple of Heaven. Tai Chi is an internal martial art system which places emphasis on the development and control of Chi (consciousness) energy within the body. You will then hop on a rickshaw and tour the Hutong neighbourhood, one of the oldest and rapidly disappearing districts in Beijing. Later, visit the Silk Factory Outlet to learn about silk, the very trade item which started the famous Silk Road, and its delicate manufacturing process. Next stop will be the Summer Palace, which is renowned for its natural beauty, grandeur and royal gardens. It was ranked amongst the World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 1998. You will be then transferred to Zhangjiajie, this

may be at night or early the next morning, depending on flight availability, your hotel accommodation will be adjusted accordingly. day 9 - Beijing, Zhangjiajie, Tujia Folk Customs Park b+L Today you will visit the Tujia Folk Customs Park - a replica township of a traditional Tujia village. The park was constructed in 2000 with the intention of educating visitors on the unique customs and traditions of the Tujia ethnic minority. After lunch you will be transferred to your hotel. In the evening you may choose to enjoy an optional evening performance which portrays the love story of a woodman and a fairy fox.

day 10 - Zhangjiajie, Tianmen Mountain b+L Today you will journey to the incredible Tianmen Mountain, a beautiful site often referred to as “the Soul of Zhangjiajie”. Upon arrival you will board the world’s longest cable car. The mountain also boasts a suspended glass walkway that reaches 1,430 metres above the ground. After enjoying the cable car and glass walkway you will climb the mountain for approximately 30 minutes to reack the iconic Tianmen Cave - a huge hole that has naturally formed in Tianmen Mountain. day 11 - Zhangjiajie, Shanghai b+D This morning may be enjoyed at leisure or you may choose to join an optional tour to Baofeng Lake. The Baofeng Lake Scenic Area possesses stunning natural scenery and is renowned for its incredible waterfall and mirror-like lake. The next stop on tour will be to the Zhangjiajie Big Valley before transferring from Zhangjiajie to Shanghai. Upon arrival in Shanghai you will be met by your guide and escorted to your hotel.

day 12 - Shanghai, Nanjing Walking District, b+L Shanghai Museum Today you will enjoy a city tour of Shanghai – the city often referred to as the “Paris of the East”. During the tour you will wind through the largest commercial and financial centres, visiting the Nanjing walking district, one of the busiest shopping strips in the world, and discovering the history and culture of Shanghai at the Shanghai Museum. In the evening, you may enjoy some leisure time or choose to join the optional Huangpu River Cruise. A cruise along the Huangpu River gives visitors an opportunity to see many of Shanghai’s famous sites such as the People’s Hero Monument, the Bund, the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the bustling International Passenger Station of Shanghai Harbour, the docks, the Wusong ancient gun fort relics and the dramatic skyline of the Pudong business district. day 13 - Shanghai, Ancient Water Town Your final day tour will be enjoyed in an historic ancient water town. The ancient town has a history of over 1,000 years and is home to hundreds of historic gardens established in the Ming and Qing dynasties. The settlement is made up of over 15 rivers and 49 historic bridges. day 14 - Depart Shanghai Today you will be transferred to Shanghai airport for your scheduled flight home.
