You need to do your research before choosing a Permanent Makeup Specialist 1. NEVER choose a permanent makeup specialist on price alone The price of permanent makeup can vary greatly from £50 to £1000 but just because someone is charging £50 doesn’t mean you will get a bargain or value for money. Most specialists base their prices on expertise & how long they have been doing it. However if someone who has been in the industry for 10 years & charges £500 for a set of brows but only does a few permanent makeup clients amongst other treatments, they are not a true specialist. On the other hand, someone who has only been in the industry for 2 years & charges £300 for a set of brows & may have been seeing only permanent makeup clients, at least 4 per day every day which would make them a true permanent makeup specialist.

2. Look at their background It is a good idea to find out the Specialist’s background & who trained them. It may not be an obvious thing to look for but unless they have been trained by a reputable company you may not get the result you had hoped for.

3. Does the Specialist have permanent makeup herself? If not, why? Any technician that believes in the benefits of permanent makeup & is passionate about sharing it with

others should have permanent makeup to demonstrate how natural it will look.

4. Do they keep up to date with continuing education? A specialist who is passionate about what they do will probably tell you about their training & what they are planning on doing. They should be able to keep you updated on current trends & techniques on their website with regular news updates. This is a good technician.

5. Free Consultation & time to think things through before making a decision A consultation should be free & exciting; it should be all about what benefits you are looking for. It should feel relaxed with no pressure or hard sell, it should be about having all your questions answered & any worries put to rest so you can make an informed decision about what you really want.

6. Your technician should also carry out a patch test. Although allergic reactions are rare, this is vital to ensure you are not allergic to the pigment. This should be done at least 12 hours before any procedure. Make sure your technician will undertake the necessary precautions before treatment commences, if they don’t they are taking risks with permanently tattooing your face & are not the right technician for you.

7. Legal aspects of permanent makeup procedures Is your technician insured to carry out these treatments? Do they have a licence for the premises that they are working from which has been inspected & passed by the local council?

8. Realistic expectations  Permanent makeup should be an enhancement of your natural features.  Lip procedures can enhance your natural lip line, but is not able to give you scarlet red lips.  Liner procedures can enhance your natural lash line, but thick black liner is not an option  Permanent make up is meant to naturally define your own look.  If you are going on a night out you can add as much additional make up as you like for an evening look.  Remember this is permanent makeup, what is in fashion now may not be in fashion in years to come. 9. First Impressions count  Is your technician’s studio inviting, comfortable & clean?  Hygiene is a top priority when carrying out permanent makeup procedures. www.naturaldefinitions.co.uk
