B) BUSINESS STUDIES N4-N6 SUBJECTS FOR THE NOVEMBER 2014 EXAMINATIONS 1. Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified persons who have taught the subjects at the respective level for appointment as markers. The applicant must have taught the subject at the relevant level within the last year and have a minimum of at least two years’ teaching experience in the subject. 2. This invitation is issued to the following categories of persons: 2.1 All persons who qualify to mark a Business Studies N6 subject. Note that all Business Studies N6 subjects will be marked at Benoni Marking Centre for the November 2014 examination cycle. 2.2 Officials who did NOT apply / get appointed to mark Business Studies N4-N5 and Engineering Studies N2–N6 during the course of the 2014 academic year. The intention is to afford an opportunity to all eligible lecturers to be considered for appointment as markers. 2.3 All officials who were appointed and marked Business Studies N4-N6 or Engineering Studies N2–N6 during the course of the year need NOT apply. The application forms submitted earlier this year will be used for selection of these markers. 3. Submission of applications 3.1

All completed application forms (Annexure A) and composite schedules (Annexure B) including the names of all applicants must be signed by the TVET College Principal. No other college official is allowed to sign the application forms. Forms and schedules not signed by the TVET College Principal will be disregarded and result in the affected applicants being eliminated from the process.

3.2

Markers must apply to the allocated marking centre in the province within which they lecture.

3.3

The applications will be used to select markers for the 2014 end of the year examinations.

4. Marking Centres for the November 2014 examination cycle 4.1

The completed application forms (Annexure A) for all subjects and composite schedules (Annexure B) must be forwarded by the TVET College Principal to the relevant marking centre for the attention of : The Marking Centre Manager at the addresses as indicated in the tables above.

The closing date for submission of applications to marking centres is 17 October 2014. Late applications will not be accepted.

The application form must be accompanied by a certified copy of the ID document and the applicant’s highest qualification in the subject applied for. Page 4 of 5

Applications from Non-South African markers must be accompanied by a certified copies of the following documents: 8.1 8.2 8.3 8.4

applicant’s highest qualification in the subject applied for, work permit, passport document, and proof of residence.

A copy of a certified copy is not acceptable. Failure to comply with this request will render the application invalid.

10. Selection will be done in accordance with regulations as contained in the ELRC Resolution 6 of 1997 and amendments as per Resolution 6 of 2001. 11. The selection committee which recommends appointment of markers comprises: 11.1 11.2 11.3

Marking management committee of each marking centre, Where applicable, relevant provincial and/or DHET officials, and Registered and recognized teacher unions as observers.

12. The marking of subjects will be undertaken at appointed marking centres. 13. The rate of payment for marking will be in accordance with departmentally approved rates. 14. THE HEAD OF THE INSTITUTION (i.e. PRINCIPAL OF THE TVET COLLEGE) IS ACCOUNTABLE FOR ENSURING THAT ALL INFORMATION ON THE APPLICATION FORM IS CORRECT IN EVERY RESPECT. 15. Examiners and Internal Moderators responsible for setting and moderating the question papers must apply to validate their appointment as markers. 16. Lecturers who have taken the voluntary severance package or are medically boarded will not be eligible. 17. The submission of an application does not guarantee appointment as a marker. 18. Markers from across each province are encouraged to apply as this is a professional development opportunity which can impact positively on the teaching and learning of a subject. Kind regards
