PRINCIPLE The sensor consists of a rotor vane that is rotated by the speed of the flowing medium. The speed of rotation is proportional to the volume flow per unit time. The measurement of the rotational speed occurs using different sensor systems, depending on the various housing materials. With some sensors an LED indicator is integrated into the sensor, the main purpose of which is to provide a flashing signal to indicate the turning of the rotor inside the sensor.

Combination with electronic evaluation devices is possible for all converters which accept a frequency signal on the input (see frequency range of the various models). HONSBERG converters are in this case the local electronics unit smart-RR for display and signal conditioning directly at the Rototron, the control cabinet version smart-SC, or the panel mounting version smart-TA for external operation as well as the Universal Counter EEZ904 in the control panel housing. Combination with the Isolation Amplifier EEV1 is possible for intrinsically safe applications. Please use the separate operating instructions for these devices.

The flowmeters are fitted to the pipework with the aid of the rotatable adapter piece. If the adapter is separated from the sensor body during fitting, then it must be ensured that adapter and the receptacle part are clean before refitting (briefly run a finger round the receptacle hole in the housing). The adapters should be carefully fitted to the housing, preferably under rotation, so that the O-ring seal is not damaged. Inlet and outlet sections are not needed with this flow sensor. It must, though, be ensured that the flow sensor is always and remains filled with the medium. Any mounting orientation is possible, but the best possible venting position should be chosen (flow from left to right or from the bottom to the top). Important! Air bubbles can severely impair the measurement results! With filling processes the valve should be fitted after the sensor. You should allow for a runup time of approx. 0.5 s and a delay time of approx. 3 s.
